This is Eleanor's First Nest:)
1. Katnip with Purrfect Paws
|
Lilac-tortie girl Born at 1108 hours via a caesarean Status: Lives with the K. family in Woerden Birth weight: 79g Weight @ 1 week old: 168g Weight @ 2 weels old: 251g Weight @ 3 weeks old: 330g Weight @ 4 weeks old: 406g Weight @ 5 weeks old: 515g Weight @ 6 weeks old: 625g Weight @ 7 weeks old: 761g Weight @ 8 weeks old: 864g Weight @ 9 weeks old: 996g Weight @ 10 weeks old: 1124g Weight @ 11 weeks old: 1271g Weight @ 12 weeks old: 1346g Weight @ 13 weeks old: 1400g Katnip had a rough start as she was stuck in an odd position in the birth canal but she seems to have recovered completely! She was the lightest at just 79g but was the heaviest in the nest at 2 weeks old! Unfortunately, I don't have any good pictures of her as she refuses to open her eyes when I'm trying to take pictures... She just ends up looking all 'frowny' and grumpy;) She is my very own Grumpy Cat. She is generally quite calm but does have her naughty moments (I have a short video of her bullying her mummy;) ) WK3: Katnip was again, the heaviest at 3 weeks old! Katnip is my husband's favourite because of her expression (sad and pitiful-looking) and because she has a chin which is half cream and half lilac. This chin seems to run in the family- Pipje has one, as does Pechje (Eleanor does not as she is not a tortie). It's so very cute. I love this photo of her and her mummy WK4: Katnip has developed quite a bit in the last week. The fun times (and soon annoying!) times have begun. She has already started eating meat although of course, mummy's milk is still the main nourishment. I also gave her a treat as a test and she tried to eat that too eventhough she didn't even have any teeth yet:D She loves to play and enjoys wrestling with the kittens especially with the bigger boys (including those from Pipje's nest). Today, I found her asleep in a cat bed in the living room with Bo and Coco Puff. P/S: Notice how she has a cross on her chest? Should I re-name her "Catholic" instead?;) Update June 19th: I absolutely love KitKat- it's just amazing how she was stuck in the birth canal and was the smallest etc. and now, she's become this gorgeous, chubby little kitten. She has these chubby, stumpy little legs which I'm a sucker for- it just makes me want to squeeze her;) She is quite a naughty little girl and has her little games with us. Sometimes she comes up to us for cuddles but sometimes she comes up to us, mews and then runs away in the crazy, playful way that only kittens can do (posture and tail in a funny awkward way). |
2. Great Catsby with Purrfect Paws
Lilac boy Born between 1108- 1130 hous via a c-section Status: Lives with T. and E from Amsterdam Birth weight: 102g Weight @ 1 week old: 178g Weight @ 2 weeks old: 241g Weight @ 3 weeks old: 306g Weight @ 4 weeks old: 410g Weight @ 5 weeks old: 494g Weight @ 6 weeks old: 662g Weight @ 7 weeks old: 848g Weight @ 8 weeks old: 964g Weight @ 9 weeks old: 1129g Weight @ 10 weeks old: 1281g Weight @ 11 weeks old: 1414g Weight @ 12 weeks old: 1502g Weight @ 13 weeks old: 1702g Being so little, he perhaps needs to grow a bit before his grand-sounding name fits him;) Catsby loves to sleep but when he wakes up, he'll immediately make sure that everyone knows of his arival to the party. He is quite a whiney little guy who demands for mummy's attention any way he can get it. Luckily, Mummy Eleanor is very idealistic and tries to be fair to all her babies;) Update WK3: At the moment, it seems like Catsby is the smartest one in the nest. He's always observing, listening and looks at us with a very intelligent expression. He loves going out of his nest- the moment he hears us, he'll be up and waiting, whining until we pick him up. Eleanor is a little worried when he's out but she isn't too bad so we do it as often as we can. WK4: Catsby is just such a funny little guy. He is so confident and so friendly. He always wants to get out of his nest and when I put him on the living room floor, he makes a beeline for me each and every time. He loves climbing on me. He is active, curious, independent but also really cuddly. Update June 19th: Catsby is still Catsby the Discoverer. He loves checking things out, observing, wrestling with his siblings (especially Picatso so it's great that they're actually leaving together!). He's our only boy with mackeral tabby ghost markings. |
3. KitKat with Purrfect Paws
Lilac-tortie girl
Born between 1108- 1130 hous via a c-section Status:Lives with C. and P. from Vlissingen Birth weight: 98g Weight @ 1 week old: 181g Weight @ 2 weeks old: 238g Weight @ 3 weeks old: 298g Weight @ 4 weeks old: 384g Weight @ 5 weeks old: 486g Weight @ 6 weeks old: 646g Weight @ 7 weeks old: 756g Weight @ 8 weeks old: 796g Weight @ 9 weeks old: 1016g Weight @ 10 weeks old: 1281g Weight @ 11 weeks old: 1354g Weight @ 12 weeks old: 1399g Weight @ 13 weeks old: 1570g From the time KitKat was born, I could tell that she was going to be the naughty tortie. Her eyes have opened now and she is so adorable. She always wakes up in a start, reacts well to my voice and is a little bit of a 'complainer'. It's a little too early to say but I have a feeling that she is going to be the first one to try and jump out of the nest;) P/S: In the photo, she looks a lot like her mummy when Ellie was that age Update WK3: I might be right that KitKat will be the naughtiest. She's always scratching about in her box, wrestling with her litter mates. She also loves Ellie and leans on her as much as she can. We also introduced her to Pechje (our handicapped neuter) earlier this week and she immediately went up to Pechje eventhough Pechje was uncertain " What's this rat -like thing moving towards me?". Update WK4: KitKat has the brightest eyes. She begs to be out of the nest by making little squeaky mews. When I take her out, she starts purring and starts checking out everything. She is friendly too, although at the moment, she is not a big fan of the vacumn cleaner. Update June 19th: I thought KitKat was going to be the naughty tortie but it turns out that she's the most gentle of all the girls. She does wrestle a lot with her litter mates and is always busy but a lot of times, I look next to me and she's playing next to me quietly. She is just so soft and gentle that even when I play with her, she never uses her claws (which at this age is remarkable since all kittens tend to have their claws out since they don't really know how to control it properly but of course, being small, it hardly hurts). |
4. Picatso with Purrfect Paws
Lilac boy
Born between 1108- 1130 hous via a c-section Status: Lives with T. & E. from Amsterdam Birth weight: 92g Weight @ 1 week old: 178g Weight @ 2 weeks old: 241g Weight @ 3 weeks old: 301g Weight @ 4 weeks old: 412g Weight @ 5 weeks old: 531g Weight @ 6 weeks old: 676g Weight @ 7 weeks old: 792g Weight @ 8 weeks old: 856g Weight @ 9 weeks old: 1042g Weight @ 10 weeks old: 1263g Weight @ 11 weeks old: 1406g Weight @ 12 weeks old: 1561g Weight @ 13 weeks old: 1692g Little Picatso has a big head;) That may sound like a bad thing but for British Shorthair breeders, this is a good thing haha This sweet little guy has very appealing eyes- he looks at you and you just melt... When we look into their box, he will immediately start mewing- hopefully not because of fear but because of interest - and poor Ellie who has taken just 5 seconds from her motherly duties to drink water/grab some food/etc. will have to run back to the nest. Update WK3: I knew Picatso was a bit of a looker which is why I had privately put him on hold just for a little while eventhough my cats are not usually available for breeding (too much work, too scary, too many things could go wrong, cats might end up in a BYB etc.) but last week, I posted a group photo of the kittens on Facebook to celebrate their 3 week birthday and little Picatso stole the heart of an experienced British breeder as he looks like a stud she used to have (this is actually possible since that stud's mother is Picatso's grandmother;)). It's obviously early days- I have to decide if I want a kitten of mine to go to the UK for breeding (breeding is done slightly differently over there) and we will of course, have to see how Picatso develops. A part of me would prefer for him to go to a pet home but as I can't keep any cats from this mating (limited space as I keep my cats for life), perhaps it's nice that someone else is continuing it for me? Personality-wise, Picatso is a sweet, happy cat. I wish I could keep all of them.... Update WK4: A few days ago, I discovered that Picatso might have a little white patch under his armpit and potentially one on his chest. Health-wise not a big deal but it is a beauty flaw for breeding/shows. Later today, Dutch friends of the English breeder will be visiting to see if this is indeed the case. If so, he will probably not be a stud. It's just as well because Picatso's personality is probably more suited for a pet home. He is so gentle and so sweet. He loves me and my husband, is always purring and rather cuddly. He loves sleeping on/next to me and his face.. sooo cute! I just love this guy. If I could have a male cat, I would want one with his personality:) Update June 19th: Picatso is such a gentle, friendly kitten which makes me glad that he will live in a pet home as life as a stud can be a little lonely at times. He is so sweet and has the cutest face. His future owners fell in love with him immediately but who wouldn't with that face and that tubby little body?;) I'm really happy that his new owners are active on Instagram etc. as I'd be happy looking at pictures of this little guy all day;) |
